Ahead of the Guatemala friendly slated for February in Miami, former Nigerian international, Ben Iroha, has advised his former teammate, Samson Siasia to feature his best players in the match.

The former assistant coach of the victorious national Under-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, said Siasia could only win the confidence of Nigerians by starting with a win. He, however, warned that any attempt to neglect the Guatemalans could spell doom for the Eagles.

'I think the forthcoming friendly will go a long way in determining how far Coach Siasia will go with the Super Eagles. The match will be his first official assignment with the team, so he must give his best.

'Although many Nigerians would have loved to see Eagles playing a Grade A friendly like Ghana that will take on the Three Lions of England, Eagles should not take Guatemala for granted despite the fact that the country is unknown in football.

'However, it is good that Nigeria, like most countries, will utilise the FIFA free day to play a friendly game, and I think that Siasia should start to build his team with that game.

'He should also use it to enhance his confidence in believing that he could lead the senior national team successfully. And for him to achieve that, he must use his best players to execute the match whether the players are home-based or foreign-based,' Iroha said.
