Goodluck Jonathan Will Be PDP Presidential Candidate - THEWILL Projection

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 13, (THEWILL) - Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan will win the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential primary with a landslide, to become the party's Presidential candidate in the April election, THEWILL can project based on the results released so far by the convention committee.

As at 2.30 am Nigerian time, President Jonathan has won in 14 out of the 16 states, recording huge upsets in his rival's home state, Adamawa and also secured a landslide win in Zamfara, a key and core northern state. He also won in Bauchi, Taraba, Nasarawa and Yobe.

His main rival, Atiku Abubakar has only won two states, Sokoto and Zamfara states.

Jonathan has so far polled 1,043 votes compared with Atiku's 308 votes.

5000 delegates are expected to vote in the primary.

President Jonathan is expected to win in the South, West, East and the middle belt states, with a huge margin.

There are 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria.
