SENATOR Eme Ekaette, wife of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Ufot Ekaette, who is representing the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, and the Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, have crashed out of their return bid  to the National Assembly on the platform of people's Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State.

Eyiboh's quest to revalidate his ticket for a second term suffered a major set-back at the PDP's primaries in Eket township stadium on  Saturday, following his overwhelming defeat by the state's Deputy Legal Adviser of the PDP, Mr. Bassey Dan Abia jnr, a lawyer.

Abia jnr., defeated  Eyiboh by 586 votes to 179 to pick the party's ticket to contestt Eket Federal Constituency in the April polls.

The primaries conducted under very tight police security, recorded further upset as incumbent Senator Eme Ufot Ekaette, Chairman, Senate Committee on Women Affairs and Youth Development was floored by former Minister of Housing, Environment and Urban Development, Chief (Mrs.) Helen Esuene.

Mrs. Esuene polled 1457 votes against Sen. Ekaette's 433 in what observers describe as shocking rejection of ineffective representation by the National Assembly members from the area.

A close aide of Hon. Eyiboh, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the House of Representatives Spokesman is seriously considering seeking a fresh berth on the platform of another political party.

Another surprise outcome was recorded during the primaries for Eket State Constituency where incumbent Hon. Jack Udota who had sought a third term mandate was shockingly defeated by Hon. Ayang Akanimo Ayang who polled 71 votes against Udota's 16.
