HODGSON WANTS TO MOULD OWN TEAM

BELEAGUERED boss of Liverpool, Roy Hodgson, is still hoping he gets an opportunity to shape his own side at Anfield.

So tough has Hodgson's start to his Reds career been, according to Sportinglife, that rumours have circulated that the club's American owner, New England Sports Ventures, is looking for a replacement. Hodgson, though, is keen to point out that he is still by and large working with the squad he inherited from former boss Rafa Benitez.

“I'm hoping that one day I will get a chance to stamp a little bit more of my authority and philosophy on the team by choosing some more of the players,” he said. “Although it's not often mentioned, I've not been that active in the transfer market since I've been here.

“The players here have done exceptionally well for me in accepting a new manager, but they are the ones you have watched for the past few years.”
