NEW YEAR'S DAY TRAGEDY: 4 CRUSHED TO DEATH IN ABRAKA

Four persons on New Year's day in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government  Area of Delta State were crushed to death by a commercial bus driver plying the busy Abraka-Agbor  Road.

The accident, which occurred at about 3.35pm sent a shock wave across Abraka and environs as members of the community rushed to the scene to identify the casualties.

An eyewitness, Prince Okun, told Daily Sun that two motorcyclists popularly called 'Okada' carrying two passengers each were returning from a beach party and on getting to the famous  Gordon Hotel Junction, they proceeded into the busy Abraka-Agbor Road where a commercial bus overtaking a sport utility vehicle ran into them.

Speaking further, he  said the commercial bus with the registration number  XL447APP who was coming from the opposite direction with full speed crushed the two cyclists with their passengers killing one motorcyclist and three of the girls.

Daily Sun reporter, on arrival at the accident scene, saw one of the victims being rushed to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state while one of the motorcyclists was in a pool of blood gasping for breath.

Those who were celebrating at various beaches around the town had to abandon their celebrations to search for their loved ones and those who could not find their relations scampered to the accident scene to identify the dead.

The timely effort of the anti-crime police team that drove to the scene saved the the commercial bus driver from being lynched by an angry mob.
