BENUE PDP MEMBERS WANT CONGRESS CANCELLED

By NBF News

MEMBERS of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State have urged the national secretariat of the party to cancel the ward congress because they were marred by violence and the late arrival of materials.

However, the Benue PDP secretariat said that those calling for the cancellation of the exercise are doing so in bad faith.

Leading the calls for cancellation, House of Representatives member from Buruku Federal Constituency, Mr. Orker Jev, said there was no material in his constituency.

He said the party officials did not bring the forms to the constituency, which was wrong.

Jev regretted that some politicians failed to allow transparency to take place during the primaries.

'We have all the irregularities covered on video. We have petitioned the appeal panel to cancel the list presented,' he said.

Also, Gabriel Ogwuche, a PDP leader from Ogbadibo Local Council, said that the PDP congress should be cancelled because some government officials merely compiled lists without due process.

Responding, PDP Publicity Secretary, Godwin Ayihe, claimed that those calling for the cancellation were politicians planning to leave the party.

He said that those complaining should learn to accept defeat, saying that the congress was not marred by irregularities as claimed.
