President Goodluck Jonathan has thrown his weight behind the candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan ahead of the Delta state re-run election scheduled for Thursday, January 6. Jonathan told a mammoth crowd of supporters at the Warri Stadium while canvassing support for Uduaghan.

He expressed optimism that the People Democratic Party (PDP) would win the rerun election in the state saying that 'we can't start crawling now. We have gone past that stage'.

He said that Nigeria needs people that have been in government business to be able to uplift it to great developmental heights, saying that 'By God's grace, you know, I will continue to be the President for the next four years.'

'This time around, we` re going to work with the governors, the National Assembly and we already have a blue print to develop the country for the next four year.'

'So we don't need business, we need the people who are in business. We don't need people who are beginners; there is no time to learn; we don't need people who would come and theorize.'

He reiterated that his support for Uduaghan was because for the past three and half years, 'he had shown the commitment that he could deliver goals.'

'Sometimes when you stay outside to look at it, you see it differently but for those of us who had been in the seat before, we know the challenge it takes.'

'He has shown the blue-print. We have now come to assure Delta State that we need him, we want to work with him and we need you to support him.'

'I need able lieutenant like Dr. Uduaghan. We need people who have seen it all and know where they are going.'

Making his remarks, Nigeria's Vice President Namadi Sambo who urged the people of the state to support PDP and vote for Uduaghan described Uduaghan as a visionary leader who had delivered PDP manifesto in Delta state.

Also, the PDP National President, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, enumerated Uduaghan's achievement ranging from micro-credit scheme which he said improved the lot of the people to infrastructural development.   'On the 6th, we will put our opponents to shame. Governance cannot be stolen by law court. We will tell them that power belongs to the people.'

The rally was attended by the Director General of the Jonathan/Sambo campaign organization, Dr Tafilda Dalhatu, Governor of Cross River, Liyel Imoke, Governor Timipre Silva of Bayelsa State, former chairman of the PDP Board of Trustee, Chief Anthony Anineh, Minister for Education for State, Olorungu Kenneth Gbagi, Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, Delta State PDP Chairman, Chief Peter Nwaboshi among others.
