Airtel Makes 50 millionaires in Nigeria at 50th Independence Promo
Leading mobile operator, Airtel Nigeria has fulfilled its promise to reward the winners of the Airtel's Nigeria at 50 Independent promo by presenting prizes to the lucky Nigerians today in various parts of the country.
The winners, 50 of them in all, received their winnings at different ceremonies in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja.
Each of the winners received a cheque of N1, 000,000 (one million naira) at the ceremonies witnessed by the National Consumer Protection Council (CPC) and the umpire responsible for regulating Promos in the country, the National Lottery and Regulatory Commission (NLRC).
At the event in Lagos, 28 Nigerians were presented with prizes by Airtel officials while 16 other winners received their cheques at the ceremony in Port Harcourt. Additional 6 winners were also given their cheques at the Abuja event.
Previously, Airtel rewarded 1000 lucky Nigerians with Airtime as part of the promo.
Speaking at the ceremony in Lagos, the Zonal Business Manager, Lagos Region, Airtel Nigeria, Akintunde Giwa, said the company introduced the Promo during the country's independence celebration to give many Nigerians financial freedom and empower them to fulfil their dreams. For 50 days, Airtel offered people resident in Nigeria the opportunity to win daily, N1,000,000.00 (one Million naira) and airtime.
He said “This prize presentation event is a testimony to Airtel's committed to empower Nigerians irrespective of their educational, religious and social status. At Airtel, we keep promises. As a mark of our transparency, we invited the national umpires responsible for regulating promos and consumer activities in the country, the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) to witness the prize presentations and to verify what we are doing here today”.
“Before today, additional 1000 Nigerians received free airtime as part of the Airtel's Nigeria at 50th Independence Promo. Today, we are presenting cheques to the winners of the N1, 000,000.00 (one million naira) prizes.”
Many of the lucky winners who spoke at the occasion commended Airtel for fulfilling its promise to reward the winners of the promo. They expressed joy at the decision of the company to present them with their winnings at this period of the year while also thanking the mobile operator for making them millionaires.
A number of the winners promised to invest the money wisely as well as use part of it to take care of some personal and family needs.
Representatives from the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) Ms Leke Folami and Mrs. Zira Afiniki of the National Lottery and Regulatory Commission (NLRC) at the ceremony in Lagos commended Airtel for its transparency and accountability in the conduct of its consumer promotions.
The Airtel “Nigeria at 50thIndependence Anniversary Promo” started in October and ran through November this year. During the promo, Airtel offered new and existing customers the opportunity to wins millions and free credit by using only N50 worth of airtime.
