2011: ACN WON'T MERGE WITH ANY PARTY –BAFARAWA

The presidential aspirant of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and former governor of Sokoto State,  Alhaji Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa has said the party will not merge with any political party for the 2011 presidential race.

This was coming on the heels of the much speculated talks that the ACN and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) would merge to produce a presidential aspirant for the next year presidential election.

Bafarawa, who spoke yesterday in Kaduna before the ACN state chairmen in the North-west zone said the ACN was open to who were willing to join it as its members and contest for any position, stressing that the issue of merger was already a forgotten matter as far as the party was concerned

The state chairmen, as well as women leaders of the party from the seven states that made up the North-west, including some state chairmen from the North-central zone graced the occasion at the instance of the presidential aspirant.

'On the issue of merger, let nobody deceive you, our party will not merge with any party, it will stand on its own, and by the special grace of God, we are going to win the presidential race next year. Whoever wants to join our party should come and register with it, and even contest for any position.

'I invited you to this place not to vote for me, but to make you know yourselves as party members. A member in Sokoto should be able to know a member in Kano, and so on and so forth.

'As you leave here today, organize yourselves, exchange phone numbers so that you can communicate effectively about the activities of the party all over the country,'  Bafarawa said.

Earlier, the Kaduna State Chairman of the party, Mr. Mohammed Soba, as well as other state chairmen pledged to mobilize the people towards the success of the party at 2011 polls, affirming that the choice of Bafarawa was the best thing to happen to the party's presidential position.
