ABUJA, Dec 15, (THEWILL) - The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, has expressed shock at media reports (not THEWILL) on an alleged argument amongst National Executive Committee (NEC) members over the presence of the former Chairman of the Enugu State Chapter of the Party, Mr. Vita Abba, at Tuesday’s meeting.

In a statement by the Special Assistant (Media) to the National Chairman, Mr. Ike Abonyi, Dr. Nwodo denied ever engaging Enugu State Governor, Mr. Sullivan Chime, nor any other NEC member in a confrontation over the matter.

“Therefore, this unfortunate account of deliberations at the 54th National Executive Committee meeting is utter falsehood and a sharp contrast to the camaraderie with which the entire NEC unanimously resolved to adjourn till Thursday to enable members have wider consultations on party issues.”

According to Nwodo, the case of the former Enugu State Chairman, Mr. Abba, is not different from that of the Chairmen of the party in Anambra, Oyo, Osun and Delta States who, under the directive of the NWC, were asked to excuse themselves from the meeting.

“At no time did the presence of these men, especially that of Mr. Abbah, catch the attention of the National Chairman much less leading to any unpleasant exchange throughout the duration of the meeting.”

Dr. Nwodo further asked all PDP members and Nigerians to disregard the report and remain committed to achieving peaceful, free and fair polls in 2011.
