ABUJA, Dec 02, (THEWILL) - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives today officially declared its total support for the presidential aspiration of President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2011 presidential election.

Chairman, House Committee on Media, Honourable Eseme Eyiboh who disclosed this at a briefing today said that Jonathan has demonstrated that he has the capacity to create the change that Nigeria needs to improve through his dedication to reforms.

Speaking on the outcome of meeting between the President and the lawmakers on Wednesday night, Eseme explained that the visit of the President to the Representatives showed that he (Jonathan) is “a president that is truly nationalistic.” “We were deeply touched and highly appreciative of the President’s position that we should have a new Nigeria. From his presentation, he left us in no doubt that he has the capacity to rule this country. And his coming down to address us showed that he is committed to free and fair elections." According to Eyiboh, all the lawmakers that attended the meeting were convinced at the end of the meeting that Jonathan is the right candidate for the position.

“The response of those of us who were present was that he has demonstrated leadership and he gave a good account of himself. We lauded him, we appreciated him, and we are on the same page with him,” Eyiboh said.
