FIRM INTRODUCES FLIGHT SCHEDULE TO MOBILE PHONES

A Nigerian firm, Anthill Digital Limited, has introduced domestic airlines flight schedule to mobile telephones.

The Managing Director of the firm, Mr. Timi Agama, said intending passengers could know their flight schedule to any Nigerian destination by sending a text message to a certain number. He said the day's flights, including all the domestic airlines, would show on their mobile telephones within seconds.

The innovation, called Text2Fly, is a product of long term research, according to Agama.

The Anthill boss said the pressure passengers went through to get their domestic flight schedules made him to come up with the solution.

Agama, during the inauguration of the product in Lagos, explained that the time had come for air travellers to make all their necessary travelling arrangements on their mobile telephones.

He said that they could get the entire flight schedule by just sending a text message to the location of the flights and the time to the number.

According to Agama, passengers need not bother about checking flight schedule on the Internet, adding that the slow pace and unnecessary network failure could now be avoided.

He said that, with this new product, air passengers could get the entire local flight schedule at anytime in Nigeria, adding that it would serve as an avenue for the travelling public to know the exact time that the airline would fly.

Speaking at the occasion, the Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, said the innovation would transform the aviation industry, noting, 'Agama has shown his entrepreneur skills by making such hi-tech product a reality in Nigeria.'

According to Aisuebeogun, 75 million people make use of telephones in Nigeria and the introduction of Text2Fly will help make flying more comfortable.
