JUDICIARY MUST SAVE EKITI FROM FAYEMI’S ILLEGALITIES – ONI’S AIDE

By Lere Olayinka

The judiciary has been urged to live up the people's expectation as

the last hope of the common man by saving Ekiti State from the regime

of illegalities being foisted on Ekiti State by the State Governor,

Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Wale Ojo-Lanre, Chief Media Aide to former governor of the State,

Chief Olusegun Oni, who reacted to the purported sitting of the 12

Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) lawmakers in the State House of

Assembly today where the illegal dissolution of Local Councils and

list of caretaker committee members were approved said; “What happened

in Ekiti today is a coup perpetrated by shameless politicians of the

ACN fraction in the House of Assembly.”
Ojo-Lanre, who described Fayemi's actions since he assumed office as

an affront on the judiciary, added that; “Last week, a High Court of

competent jurisdiction in Ado-Ekiti told all parties in the suit filed

by the duly elected council officials that status quo must be

maintained and adjourned the case till December 1, 2010.

“It then smacks of great disrespect for Fayemi, a product of due

process of law to be perpetrating these acts that are not only illegal

but also immoral.
“More so that by the State House of Assembly standing rule, the cannot

be a sitting of the House on Monday and by the State Local Government

Administration (Amendment) Law No. 6 of 2001, two-third of the

26-membered House must ratify council dissolution. In this case,

two-third is 18 members of the House.
“With illegalities like these, it is crystal clear now that Fayemi and

his cohorts in the ACN are nothing but political savages and hooligans

who have no respect for the rule of law
“Like what we have said, the ACN is a jankara and bolekaja

government, which will fizzle out quickly because what the ACN members

of the House have done is a rape of democracy and it will not stand.”
