FG REITERATES COMMITMENT TO PEACEFUL USE OF NUCLEAR ENERGY

The Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Muhammed Abubakar has restated Federal Government's commitment to peaceful use of nuclear energy in the country.

A statement signed by the Press Officer of the ministry, Mr Tai Shobajo, on Wednesday in Abuja, quoted the minister as saying this when he received a delegation from  the Republic of France, in Abuja.

The statement said government was eager to solve the country's energy problem through provision of nuclear plants in accordance with the specifications of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Abubakar said that the Federal Government was ready to partner with any progressive country for the development of nuclear energy in the country.

Speaking earlier, Mr Alain Bugat, head of the French delegation explained that they were in the country to assist Nigeria in the area of nuclear energy plants.
