JOS, Nov 10, (THEWILL) - Deputy Governor of Plateau State Mrs. Pauline Tallen has called on women to extend hands of friendship to other women in other religious and ethnic groupings in the state.

Speaking at the Annual Thanksgiving of the Ansar- ud - deen Society of Nigeria, Jos Branch (Women Wing) where she was the special guest of honour, Mrs. Tallen stated that if every Muslim woman could keep a least a Christian woman as friend, there would be better understanding between adherents of the two religions especially as they both preach virtually the same thing about maintaining peace in the society.

The Deputy Governor and Governorship aspirant said most of the crises that had occurred in the state were fueled by rumour and lack of understanding of what the other camps are up to; pointing out that when the bridge of friendship is built across the various groups, there would be better communication and understanding which would prevent a break down of law and order.

Mrs. Tallen who was represented by Mrs. Martina Kure urged the women to be mindful of companies kept by their children and wards; saying that peers influence had led quite a lot of youths astray and made them easy prey for money bags that use them as tools during crisis.

She stressed the need for the men to take interest in what happens in their homes rather than abandoning all responsibilities to the women who have a lot of responsibilities in their hands adding that in homes where there is love and understanding the children hardly become wayward.

She said though she is out to contest the governorship seat in the state, hers is not a ‘do and die’ affair but assured women that if her wish is the same with that of God, women would have a better deal under her.
