Former Nigeria coach, Adegboye Onigbinde, has said that the new Super Eagles manager Samson Siasia was picked on merit.

Speaking with our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday, Onigbinde said both Siasia and Stephen Keshi were asked 10 questions by the 10-member Nigeria Football Federation Technical Committee.

Onigbinde was in the panel that interviewed Siasia and Keshi for the job last week.

He said, 'The procedure we followed was that we sat down to compile 10 questions and each one of us asked each of them one question. Each of them was with us for about two hours.

'While Mr. A is asking his own question, all the other members of the committee will score the candidate.'

Onigbinde appealed to Nigerians to rally round Siasia.

'Siasia is the man Nigerians want to lead the Eagles now. What Nigerians should do now is to sink their differences and ensure that love for country supersedes selfish interest,' he said.
