CUSTOMS: FCT COMMAND GROWS REVENUE BY 110%

The FCT Command of the Nigerian Customs Services has grown its revenue by 110 per cent between January and October 2010.According to a customs report seen by this paper, the revenue profile which stood at N1.5billion in January grew to N3.1billion last October.

When contacted for comment, Area Controller, Comptroller Usman Kankara Bello attributed the success to the encouragement given by the Comptroller General Abdullahi Dikko Inde, who he said deserves commendation for his record after ensuring that customs salaries were increased thereby boosting the morale of men and officers in the service.

He also said the comptroller general has initiated different capacity building programmes for the customs officers and men in order to update their skills in modern practices.

He said the comptroller general has also put in place mechanism to check smuggling activities, adding that promotion of customs men and officers are all to the credit of the Comptroller Inde.
