NWODO TO ASPIRANTS: NIGERIANS WANT ISSUE – DRIVEN CAMPAIGNS

By NBF News

The National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo at the weekend reviewed the ongoing campaigns of various Presidential aspirants in the country and said that what Nigerians want is issue-driven campaign and not bickering.

Dr Nwodo who spoke in Osogbo, Osun State capital at a special dinner hosted in his honour by the Osun State Government warned that politicians should know that Nigerians are tired of tribal and religious politics and want to hear about issues that will put food on their tables.

A statement from Nwodo's Media Assistant, Ike Abonyi, quoted the PDP boss as saying that old stories where politicians persecute campaign on sentiment rather than issues are gone for good. 'We must strive to deliver the goods to our people and leave a legacy that endures,' he said pointing out that he had never seen where history remembers persons because of the number of ill-gotten cars or houses they possess.

He urged Nigerians to continue to give PDP a chance because in reality looking at the situation in the country today, PDP is the only party that the destiny of this country can be entrusted with. Nwodo commended Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola for his achievement as governor and said that he would be bowing out after his second term as an achiever and noted that his giant strides would be a challenge to his successor.

He particularly praised Oyinlola for his job creation policy and urged the people to continue to support PDP.

Also speaking at the dinner, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Dimeji Bankole told the people that what happened in Ekiti must not happen in Osun but he urged the people to be peaceful at all times.
