ALL STAR JAZZ AT MUSON TODAY

By NBF News

The jazz component of the prestigious annual MUSON festival holds today at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Tagged, Nigerian Jazz All Stars, the show will feature home-based and international jazz artistes who are privileged to be on the bill in recognition of the contributions they have made to the development of jazz and live music.

In the past, the MUSON Jazz festival, which is one of the highlights of the MUSON Festival, has presented performances from artistes like world-acclaimed, Grammy award wining American guitarist, Earl Klugh performing alongside Nigeria's Lagbaja. Other acts which have performed at past MUSON jazz festivals include Jonathan Butler (USA), Al Jarreau (USA), Hugh Masekela (SA), Jimmy Dludlu (SA), Habana Sax (Cuba), Karen Patterson (USA) and the SR Orchestra and a host of others.

However, at a press parley announcing the event at MUSON during the week, Bashorun J.K. Randle, Chairman, Festival Planning Committee, says this year's show is different and special 'as we celebrate Nigeria's golden jubilee anniversary and what better way to do this than have a lineup of our own artistes both the ones based at home and those on the international scene.'

This year's acts include Lekan Babalola (UK), Ayinke Martins (UK), Herbert Kunle Ajayi, Mike Osadolo, Imole Africa and Pure & Simple, among others.
