HOUSE OF REP ASPIRANT KIDNAPPED IN ANAMBRA

Gunmen on Wednesday night stormed Ekeagu market in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State and kidnapped a manager of one of the new generation banks based in Lagos. The victim who is also aspiring for the House of Representatives, is Mr. Nnadozie Aroh.

Daily Sun source said the suspected kidnappers stormed the market at about 8.30pm and started shooting sporadically into the air apparently to scare people away. The abductors, it was also gathered, succeeded in kidnapping their victim.

According to the victim's elder brother, Mr. Okey Muo Aroh, his brother had just returned to his Abatete country home to stay for his annual leave and put finishing touches to his political ambition to run for the House of Representatives before the incident.

He said the kidnappers trailed his brother to the market when he was on his way home, stopped him and started shooting sporadically in the air to scare away people before they took him away.

Though the elder brother of the victim could not disclose the amount of money the kidnapper demanded as ransom, he however, said they had established contact with the kidnappers, adding that they had named their ransom.

Daily Sun source also said that during the kidnap incident, so many people sustained so many degrees of injuries as the market women were scampering for safety as a result of the hullabaloo that followed the shootings from the kidnappers' rifles. The source maintained that the kidnappers had a field day during their operations as they were not confronted by any security agents during their operations as they drove with their victim to an unknown destination.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nnadozie Aroh had declared his intention to contest for House of Representatives to represent Idemili North/South Federal Constituency before his kidnap. However, the Anambra state Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Emeka Chukwuemeka said he had not received any signal to the effect and promised to work with the DPO of Abatete to bring the situation under control.
