Anthony Enahoro Alive, Stable, But Suffers Diabetic Ketosis

San Francisco, Nov 02, (THEWILL) – Chief Anthony Enahoro, 87, one of the nation's foremost nationalist is alive and recuperation at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH.


THEWILL can authoritatively report that the first republic federal legislator, who moved the motion for Nigeria’s independence in 1957, was admitted following an acute diabetic condition known as diabetic ketosis or hyperosmolar ketosis. This condition occurs when the sugar level in the blood is excessively high and out of control.


Hypoglycemia is the opposite of hyperosmolar ketosis.


According to Pa Enahoro’s case file which THEWILL was granted exclusive access to, Enahoro’s condition was critical when he was admitted at the hospital’s ICU. “Patient was sweating, had difficulty with breathing and was generally disoriented,” a physician wrote.


The second complication doctors observed was that he had ‘generalized infection in his blood stream’ called sepsis. Sepsis is a severe illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria. Doctors also observed that he had malaria parasite++.


Pa Enahoro’s condition is however stable and improving as doctors have successfully managed his ailment.


He has left the intensive care unit for a general observation unit in the hospital located in Ugbowo, near the University of Benin.
