Updated: AIT/Ray Power FM On Fire
KANO, Oct 29, (THEWILL) – The African Independent Television/Ray Power station in Kano was today struck by a strange fire.
The immediate cause of the inferno has not been determined but state fire personnel have put out the fire.
THEWILL Kano correspondent reports that AIT Kano office is a four-storey building and that no lives were lost in the fire.
AIT/Ray Power FM is owned by Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Director General of the Ibrahim Babangida Campaign Organization.

The inferno, which started at about 8 .00 am engulfed the entire sixth floor office of the broadcasting station located on Murtala Mohammed Way, Kano. The incident occurred when employees of the broadcasting station had resumed for duty.
In an interview with THEWILL, station manager, Alhaji Abdulmalik Addy said he spotted fire inside the station at about 7.40am and called the fire service for assistance. He said it took about 2hrs to extinguish the fire.

Addy said transmission of programmes had commenced when the fire started, explaining that the inferno destroyed all the station’s broadcasting equipment including its transmitters, cameras, the library and its editing box.
The station manager said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined..
