KATSINA, Oct 28, (THEWILL) - Senator Kanti Bello has declared that President Goodluck Jonathan betrayed indigenes of Katsina following his refusal to pick Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema as Vice-President.

He said: "We thought President Jonathan will choose our son, Ibrahim Shehu Shema as Vice President after the death of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua."

Senator Bello told reporters in Katsina that indigenes of the state will not forgive President Jonathan for his unfair treatment of the state.

"Jonathan has betrayed us, and we will never forgive him,” he added.

Senator Bello recalled that during the 2007 election, himself and a business mogul from Katsina, Alhaji Dahiru Barau Mangal visited Bayelsa and were instrumental in the choice of Jonathan as Vice President.

According to him, “President Jonathan should have compensated Katsina people by choosing Ibrahim Shehu Shema and appointing him as Vice President."

Senator Bello called on the people of Katsina to rally behind General Ibrahim Babangida because "he was instrumental to the creation of Katsina State, adding that "Supporting General Babangida to actualize his dream come 2011 presidential election is a jihad to every responsible northerner," he added.

He accused President Jonathan of sabotaging projects initiated by late President Yar’Adua, citing the construction of a railway line from Lagos to Kano and the dredging of River Niger.
