ASSASSINATION OF MADAM LUCY UKABUNWA WOKOCHA, MOTHER OF A RIVERS STATE COMMISSIONER – A DANGEROUS DIMENSION, CONDEMNABLE, AND AN UNACCEPTABLE ACT – PPA

The news of the gruesome murder of Madam Lucy Ukabunwa Wokocha the 64 old

mother of Hon. Wokocha the Honourable Commissioner of Power in the Rivers

State in the wee hours of yesterday is totally unacceptable. We condemn

such a diabolical act in its totality and wish to implore that the Rivers

State Police Command will arrest the culprits without delay and make them

face the full brunt of the law.
We are still in shock and trying hard to understand the sense in harming

such an elderly woman in her country home. As much as we will not like to

link this to politics but coming a few hours after the Governor of Rivers

State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi told the State during his

stewardship address that some politicians are piling up arms for the 2011

general election, it will be difficult not to.
We appeal to the Rivers State Police command to justify the huge

expenditure by the Rivers State Government and arrest those behind this

heinous act in a matter of hours or days just as they did with the killers

of Soboma George so as to reassure the people of the State, particularly

our investors, that she is still very secure and remains the best option

for investment.
We urge all and sundry to take things easy and go about their daily

business as God will not allow the enemies of the State to succeed in this

act aimed at unsettling the Government and discouraging the Rt. Hon.

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in his efforts to bring hope and succour to our

people after eight years of misrule and misapplication of our common

patrimony.
