In a fit of self-recrimination, the immediate past governor of Imo state and former minister of Commerce and Industry, Chief  Achike Udenwa  has unreservedly apologized to Imo people over his roles in installing Chief Ikedi Ohakim as the governor of the state  towards the end of his administration.

Udenwa while admitting thwarting Senator Ifeanyi Ararume's governorship ambition in 2007, expressed regret for politically antagonizing the former Senator, adding that it was  his (Araraume's) opposition stand at the time that paved way for Ohakim to emerge as a governor of the state under the platform of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA).

Udenwa, who is now the worse hit by the political onslaught of the Ohakim administration voiced his regrets yesterday at Orsu and Orlu council areas  of the state during the LGA tours embarked upon by the Imo Alliance, the umbrella opposition group in Imo PDP founded through the new alliance of Udenwa and Araraume.

The former governor however, maintained that the solution to his mistake is to totally support Senator Ifeanyi Ararume whom he said has the needed leadership potentials to reclaim the state from political rot and economic collapse.

The former governor, who lambasted his successor Governor Ikedi Ohakim for allegedly dragging    the state to ruins with harsh state policies and phantom projects that have particularly become conduit pipe for siphoning state fund, said time has come for Imo people to salvage their state by electing a credible leader to redress the many ills of the Ohakim administration.

He urged the supporters of the Imo Alliance group to mobilize support for Ararume and decisively take a stand against the re-election bid of Ohakim, if the state must leave the woods.

Ararume who is the consensus candidate of Imo Alliance for  Good Governance , in his speech said the mission of the tour was to sensitize and canvass for the support of the people again in the fight to rescue the state from the stranglehold of the Ohakim administration in the state.

Reminding them that their votes are needed to achieve the desired change in the state, Araraume assured that contrary to what happened in the past elections, votes of the electorates will surely count in 2011.
