San Francisco, Oct 17, (THEWILL) – THEWILL can authoritatively report that a Dubai court today ruled that there is enough evidence to accede to the British government request to extradite former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori to London for trial.

Chief Ibori’s lawyers have however appealed the ruling at an appeal court as exclusively reported by THEWILL on Friday.

The former governor is being sought for prosecution following alleged financial crimes running into several millions of dollars committed while he was Delta State governor.

The extradition battle will probably end up at the highest court in Dubai, the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi, after it has been heard at a Court of Cassation, the highest court in the UAE.

In all Emirates other than Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, the final appeal ends at the Federal Supreme Court.

It may takes at least eight months before the matter is decided through all the courts.
