CALABAR, Oct 07, (THEWILL) - Members of the Cross River State Executive Council, the legislature and the judiciary arms of government have paid separate condolence visits to Governor Liyel Imoke to commiserate with him on the demise of his mother, Late Mrs. Comfort Samuel Imoke.

Speaking on behalf of members of the executive council, the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham who described death as a divine will and act of God, urged Imoke and other members of his family to look beyond the loss of their mother and be consoled in the fact that Madam Imoke lived a fulfilled and complete life.

Mr. Cobham contended that as a role model, she touched many lives through her devotion to humanitarian service, adding that some Cross Riverians who are alive today are beneficiaries of her gesture and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Hon Dominic Edem, Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly who led other members of the house promised to support Imoke whom he described as a true companion, throughout the trying period, maintaining that the love, care and comfort ‘Mma’ used to shoulder will be greatly missed as she departs, though at a right age of 81.

In her remarks, the State Chief Judge, Justice Dorothy Eyamba-Idem who recalled with nostalgia the exemplary life style of Madam Imoke maintained that she lived a life worthy of celebration by those who were privileged to meet her and expressed optimism that the good Lord who knows the works of men shall grant her a resting place in his bossom.

Chief Kierian Asu, Chairman, State Law Reforms Commission accompanied by all the Commissioners described the demise of Mrs. Comfort Imoke as a celebration of life as she has contributed to development of healthcare delivery, a service which Nigerians have enjoyed and prayed for God’s Grace on the family.

Responding on behalf of the family, the State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke said sudden news of her ‘demise was received with great shock but with thanks to God Almighty who knows the end from the beginning.’

Late Madam Comfort Samuel Imoke died in her sleep in the early hours of Monday, October 4, 2010 after a brief illness.
