IT'S A COWARDLY ACT – DANIEL

By NBF News

Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has described the Abuja bomb blast which occurred on the day Nigeria commemorated its 50th Independence anniversary as a dastardly and cowardly act which cannot be justified under any guise.

The governor said those who carried out the acts were enemies of the country whose mission was to create a climate of fear in the country. 'We condemn this act in the strongest terms.

We align with President Goodluck Jonathan in deploring the use of violence for whatever reason. We trust that the security agencies will speedily carry out the presidential directives by promptly tracking down those responsible for the heinous act and making them face the full weight of the law.'

'No matter our grudges and differences, peaceful resolution of conflict and dialogue within the ambits of the rule of law are still the preferred option. The resort to violence like the type carried out in Abuja is counterproductive and against the letters and spirit of democratic practice,' the statement read.

The governor, while appealing to all Nigerians to eschew acts of violence and sabotage in all ramifications, commiserated with President Jonathan and the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident.
