Nigeria At 50: FG Launches N50 Commemorative Bills

San Francisco, Sept 29, (THEWILL) – Nigerian government today launched new N50 commemorative bills and non circulating 22 carat gold coins as part of its 50th independence anniversary celebration.

The launch held during the weekly federal executive council meeting, which was chaired by the President Goodluck Jonathan.

Central Bank Governor Lamido Sanusi said the new bills will circulate side by side with the polymer bills already in existence adding that the difference between both bills is the inclusion of the 50th anniversary logo, a gold iridescent band and a goodwill note written in varnish.

The gold coins which come in either 22 carat gold and gold plated silver will serve as souvenirs only.
