KANO, Sept 29, (THEWILL) - THE Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr.) Ado Bayero has enjoined the general public to render all necessary support to the 50th anniversary committee set up by Kano State government with a view to ensuring a successful execution of the celebrations.

Bayero made the call while receiving the Chairman of the committee, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, who was at the palace to intimate him about government’s arrangement towards celebrating the historical event.

Emir Bayero, who stressed the importance of the occasion, said the event should not be politicized because it is a national issue which is supposed to be embraced with all seriousness.

According to him, it is a time to reflect on what has transpired in the country since independence in order to make some amends and look ahead.

Dederi said the state government had resolved to honour past governors and prominent personalities who contributed towards the development of the state. Such governors he said include late Audu Bako, Gen Lawal Ja’afaru Isa, Col. Sani Bello, AVM Hamza Abdullahi, Major General Idris Garba, Col Abukadata Oneya and Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

Other awardees, Dederi added, include Wamban Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, Professor Shehu Galadanci, Justice Abubakar Bashir Wali and Alhaji Mukhtar Adnan, and the Sarkin Bai of Kano among others.

Barrister Dederi added that the two-day event will also involve special prayers to be held at Kano Central Mosque.
