Somalia Deploys Medical Teams And Aid To Frontlines In Anti-al-shabaab Offensive

The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has deployed medical teams, emergency response vehicles, and medical supplies to the Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions to support local defence forces engaged in military operations against Al-Shabaab.

The deployment, which includes doctors, medicine, and ambulances, is aimed at providing critical medical aid to local fighters and security personnel wounded in the ongoing offensive against the militant group. The medical teams will be stationed at Adale District Hospital in Middle Shabelle. They will provide essential services in Moqokori, Aden Yabaal, Haji Ali, Gulane, Masjid Ali Gadud, and surrounding areas affected by counterterrorism operations.

Dr. Abdullahi Muse Ahmed, SoDMA's Health Department director, oversaw the deployment from Mogadishu, emphasizing that the initiative seeks to minimize battlefield casualties among local forces. The agency has provided medical and humanitarian assistance in areas affected by the conflict.

Earlier this week, SoDMA delivered medical aid to Jalalaqsi in Hiiraan, supplying essential medicine for injured fighters and civilians in need of urgent care. In addition to medical support, the agency has been distributing food aid to conflict-affected communities in Middle Shabelle as part of broader efforts to mitigate the humanitarian impact of ongoing military operations.

The Somali government, with backing from community defence militias known as Ma'awisleey, has intensified its offensive against Al-Shabaab in central and southern regions, seeking to dismantle the group's strongholds and restore security in the country.
