JONATHAN'S CAMPAIGN CO-ORDINATORS GET DEATH THREATS

By NBF News

No fewer than five state co-ordinators of the Jonathan Support Group (JSG) have received assassination threats from persons claiming to be military personnel.

The JSG co-ordinators that have received such threats through telephone are those of Niger , Nassarawa, FCT and two others.

Campaign Co-ordinator for the group in Niger State, Alhaji Aliyu Mamman, who disclosed this to Sunday Sun in an interview in Minna said he believes more of such threats could still come unless security agents get to the root of the matter.

Mamman said the leader of the group, who gave his name as Colonel Effiong, said a gang had been contracted to assassinate him but he was however given the opportunity to save his life.

'Your destiny is in your hands, you can chose to take this warning seriously or disregard it at your own peril' Mamman recalled the telephone conversation with the man.

Mamman, however, said he had replied his caller that as a muslim, his fate was not in the hands of man, but in the hands of God. While making his claim, a call was put through to the said Colonel Effiong who confirmed his earlier warning to Mamman. 'My colleagues told me they were first sent text messages asking them to expect calls from Effiong, and later they called and handed the same warning.

'In my own case, no text message was sent to me. They called directly and I have been communicating with the so-called Effiong since then.' While Mamman said that he reported the matter to the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, Michael Zuomukor, in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, Dorothy Garba and another senior police officer added that the five of them involved have agreed to table the matter before Governor Gabriel Suswan of Benue State at the next North Central zone of the group which he oversees.

When contacted, Zuomukor confirmed receiving Mamman in his office, but could not describe the visit as making a report. 'Let's just say that the man came here on a courtesy visit and not to make any report because he surely knows how to lodge formal complaints.

'He did not write any statement and did not lodge any formal complai xnts and that is why we have not bothered to carry out any investigation.
