Ex-Anambra Governorship Candidate Dumps Labour Party
Former governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State, Valentine Ozigbo, has resigned from the Labour Party (LP).
Ozigbo, who contested under PDP in the 2021 governorship election, announced his resignation in a statement he personally issued on Wednesday immediately after a State Executive Committee meeting of the party in Awka, Anambra State capital.
According to him, he formally submitted his resignation letter to his ward chairman at the end of the SEC meeting of the Labour Party.
Ozigbo in the statement emphasized that his decision was guided by his unwavering commitment to a greater vision for Anambra State.
He disclosed that he had previously informed the Labour Party’s National Chairman and also notified the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi, of his decision out of respect for Obi’s leadership and the shared principles they have upheld.
“At every defining moment in history, our choices shape the future we dream of.
“Today, as I take a new step in my journey of service, I do so with an unshakable resolve, a clear vision, and the unwavering belief that Anambra’s best days are ahead of us,” Ozigbo stated.
He reiterated that his foray into politics was never about personal ambition but about harnessing the boundless potential of the people of Anambra.
He stressed the importance of leadership that is compassionate, inspirational, and truly dedicated to serving the people.
According to him, his mission remains unchanged—only strengthened.
Ozigbo alluded to recent political events as a catalyst for his decision, stating that the time have come to build something new and bold, focusing on the hopes and aspirations of Anambra’s people beyond party lines.
He described his move as a moment of celebration, renewed strength, and boundless possibilities.
“This is not a moment of uncertainty. It is a moment of celebration. A moment of renewed strength.
“And a moment of boundless possibilities. To those who believe in this vision, stand firm. To those who have walked this journey with me, stay resolute.
“Because what lies ahead is bigger, brighter, and more powerful than anything we leave behind,” he affirmed.
