After several attempts to quit, Remi Babalola, Minister of Special Duties got his wish, as President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has finally accepted his resignation. In a media advisory made available to huhuonline.com, Presidential spokesperson, Ima Niboro, said

"President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Special Duties, Mr. Remi Babalola with effect from today September 16, 2010 . "Mr. Babalola resigned on health grounds'. "President Jonathan wished him full recovery and a speedy return to an active life."

However, huhuonline.com understands that since Mr. Remi Babalola's redeployment from the Ministry of Finance , where he served as a Minister of State , he has been unhappy. In his opinion, his posting to special duties ministry, was a promotion into redundancy and wanted to resign immediately, but was told to hold on.

But now that the die is cast, and former military head of state, Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has declared for the 2010 presidential election , Remi Babalola had no other option, than to resign and join forces with his 'political godfather' Alhaji Azeez Arisekola-Alao, who is openly supporting Gen. Babangida's presidential bid.

Unbeknownst to many, Mr. Remi Babalola was nominated to become a minister of the federal republic, by Alhaji Azeez Arisekola-Alao.
