Pep Guardiola has reacted to the deliberate boycott of all Real Madrid representatives from the Ballon d'or award ceremony that was held in Paris on Monday October 28 2024.

It was gathered that the early tipoff informing Real Madrid about their favourite Vinicius losing the Ballon Di'or to Rodri prompted the club to boycott the ceremony. No one from Real Madrid travelled to Paris to attend the ceremony - no Florentino Pérez, no Vini Jr, no Carlo Ancelotti, no Jude at the award night.

Rodri, Manchester United defensive midfielder was rated above Vinicius, Jude Bellingham and he was awarded the best player instead of them. This development sparked controversy evaluating and questioning how Rodri's performance deserved the award.

When Pep Guardiola was asked to judge the rationale behind Real Madrid's decision to boycott the prestigious award ceremony, he neglected the question by anchoring his standpoint on freewill and right to choice.

"What do you think of Real Madrid not going to Ballon d’Or?

“They want to go, it's fine, they don't, it's fine. They want to congratulate, it's fine, they don't, it's fine. We are not here to judge what other clubs decide what they have to do”, says Pep Guardiola.
