Eze Enugwu-ukwu Commends Arms Of Care International For Successful Medical Outreach To The Community.

Igwe, Sir, Ralph Obumneme Ekpeh, Eze Enugwu-Ukwu na Igwe Umunri has lauded Arms of Care International, group of medical professionals providing free medical services to the poor, homeless and indigent persons out of Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America for conducting a successful medical outreach programme in Enugwu-Ukwu from 13-15 October 2024.

Eze Enugwu-Ukwu represented by Chief Dennis Anaekwe, Omenyi Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri, Ônôsolu-Eze, made the commendation while welcoming the sixteen-member Arms of Care delegation at the Igwe's Palace Enugwu-Ukwu on Monday 15th October 2024.

Omenyi, thanked the team comprising of surgeons, opticians and nurses who arrived Enugwu-Ukwu Sunday and have been providing free medicare to over one thousand registered patients drawn from the eighteen villages of the town; alongside a local support team of doctors and nurses at Obu Umunri, Enugwu-Ukwu.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting Arms of Care International, the team leader, The President & Founder Arms of Care International, and Director Atlanta Ropheka Medical Centre, Dr Onwura Micheal Obiekwe, expressed gratitude to Eze Enugwu and members of his cabinet for the grand reception organized for the team assuring that the team was already at work and would continue the next day with a view to providing free medical solutions including surgery where very critical, eye examinations with glasses to over 500persons who need as well as other common ailments where the team has expertise.

Dr Obiekwe revealed that Arms of Care was a fulfillment of a vision which started in 2004 and has been growing over the years. According him the medical outreach to Nigeria and Anambra State was planned two years ago with a member of the team and daughter of Enugwu-Ukwu, Nurse Ijeoma Umunna at the centre of the plans.

He explained that Arms of Care is a nonprofit medical services organization with the goals of Delivering Primary Healthcare and Wellness Services, Community and Economic Empowerment, and Educational Empowerment to those in need around the world. So far the team has provided free medicare across countries in the Americas, Philipines, South Sudan, and now Nigeria with Enugwu-Ukwu and Umunze as targets.

Speaking earlier on behalf of the Reception Committee for the Medical Outreach, Chief, Sir Clement Nwafor, Odu Nkata, Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri, formally welcomed the Arms Care International delegation to Enugwu-Ukwu and assured them that the community was safe and had made necessary plans to ensure a smooth and successful completion of their medical mission.

He informed the delegation that Eze Enugwu-Ukwu was on vacation but had left his blessings for their welfare and safe return to their base thereafter. The highpoint of the reception is the presentation of gifts of cultural beads to the sixteen visitors by Chief Anaekwe, Ônóseleze assisted by Chief Nwafor and others.

Earlier, Chief Frank Nwokike, Ugogbuzuo Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri explained the origin of Enugwu-Ukwu from Nri progenitors to the visitors, and the process of the Annual Igu-Aro Festivities which takes place every first Saturday of the year. He thanked Arms of Care International for the selfless service they are providing to our people, even as he assured that they will go home with bountiful blessings from Nri.

In contribution, Media Consultant, Chief Sam Ekpeh, Ezenwa Enugwu na Umunri thanked Nurse, Ijeoma Umunna for thinking home by bringing the medical team to provide medicare to the needy in Enugwu-Ukwu and environs and called other sons and daughters to emulate her.
