World Teachers' Day 2024: Rotimi Onadipe Encourages Teachers To Include Online Safety Education In Their Teaching Experience.

As the world celebrates this year's World Teachers' Day with the theme, "Valuing Teachers' Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education," a prominent advocate of online safety and CEO of Internet Safety Magazine, Rotimi Onadipe, has encouraged teachers across the globe to include online safety education in their teaching experience.

Onadipe made this known in Ibadan on Saturday while delivering a lecture titled "The Importance of Online Safety Education in Today's Digital Age."

In his goodwill message to mark this year's World Teachers' Day, Onadipe noted that the important role that teachers play in the academic success of the present and future generation cannot be overemphasized.

Onadipe who appreciated teachers for their relentless efforts in making life better for the present and future generation, also advocated better welfare package for teachers.

Onadipe encouraged teachers across the world to collaborate with stakeholders in the field of cyber security. He urged them to learn about online safety so that they can educate the present and future generation about it.

He said: "As we celebrate World Teachers' Day today, I am appealing to teachers globally to join us to save our youths and young children from online dangers. This is the best time that your teaching experience can help to save our youths and society from all unethical practices associated with the use of internet"

"In our society of today where online risks such as cyber crimes, online scams, cyberbullying, pornography addiction, online gaming/gambling addiction, among others are now the order of the day among our youths and young children, online safety education is not optional but essential for everyone."

Onadipe reaffirmed his organisation's commitment to collaborating with educators and other stakeholders in order to provide lasting solutions to the menace of cybercrime and other risks associated with the use of internet.
