PDP GRANTING WAIVER TO ATIKU ABUBAKAR IS THE BEST RAMADAN GIFT FROM THE PARTY TO NIGERIANS – TURAKI VANGUARD

By Eze Chukwuemeka

We are very elated and delighted over the granting of waiver to the embodiment of democracy in Nigeria in the person of Alh. Atiku Abubakar by the National leadership of PDP in the yesterday's NWC meeting after the undercurrent plot by some unprincipled and undemocratic elements in the party to deny him membership of the party. With this development, we can now conclude that PDP is a democratic political party and that internal democracy has come to hold sway in the party. The impact and effect of this on the future of the party need not be over-emphasized.

With the waiver, Nigerians now have a choice between experience against inexperience and, vision against lack of purpose and direction, clarity of direction for the future of Nigeria against attempt to force an unwilling president on Nigeria again. With the five point agenda of Atiku Abubakar that includes

i. Employment Generation and Wealth Creation

ii. Power Generation and infrastructural Development

iii. Security, Good Governance and War Against Corruption

iv. Education, Health and Social Services

v. The Niger Delta; Nigeria's future is well secured and protected. Let us judge him by what he stands for as we can vouch that he is ready to take us to the next level. We congratulate Atiku Abubakar for another victory in his drive to improve on our political journey in Nigeria. As we also salute his courage, resilience and doggedness considering the issues that surrounded the waver and his effort not to let down millions of his supporters in this regard is commendable.

We will like to commend and congratulate our indefatigable National Chairman, Dr. Nwodo and other NWC Members for following the path of justice and doing what is right even in the face of seemingly opposition by some elements who were bent and are afraid of Atiku's political prowess and sagacity. The Dr Nwodo led NWC took a bold step, we have never doubted Nwodo's integrity and courage when it comes to taking right decision, he has by this action proven what he said at his inaugural meeting, and by extension bring credibility to the name of PDP, he should keep it up. However, the process would not be complete until the leadership of the party guarantees a level playing field for all the aspirants and ensure that the PDP primaries is not only free and fair but also credible. We urge the Dr Nwodo's led NWC to once again prove to critics wrong of the ability of PDP to manage its internal affairs perfectly by ensuring that the rotation and zoning principle contained in Article 7.2 subsection C which states that 'in pursuance of the principle of equity, justice and fairness, the party shall adhere to the policy of rotation and zoning of party and public elective offices and it shall be enforced by the appropriate executive committee at all levels” is respected by President Jonathan and his cohorts. Finally, we urge all PDP members, leaders and all Nigerian to rise up and support the candidature of Atiku to make good things happen for them.

We thank both Senator Jibril Aminu, business mogul cum politician

Bamangar Tukur and other elder statesmen from Adamawa state for

solidly standing by Atiku to ensure that he got the PDP's waiver, and we

urge upcoming politicians in the country to note that politics is not

all about personal interest but a collective thing.

In another development, the National Director of Turaki Vanguard, Chief Oladimji Fabiyi who described the waiver to Atiku Abubakar by PDP as the greatest Ramadan gift to Nigerians in his Sallah message to our Muslim brethren stated, “I want to use this opportunity to rejoice and congratulate our Muslim faithful in Nigeria and all over the world on the successful completion of Ramadan fasting. I want to enjoin Nigerians to use the lessons learnt during the fasting period to further use in their daily lives. I also urge them to shun all forms of vices and acts that can threaten the unity and peaceful coexistence we enjoyed in Nigeria. Let me also urge all Nigerian youths to be politically conscious and resist any attempt by any leader to use them as agent of destabilization, because the future belong to them. Finally, I want to encourage our leaders to be just, fair and ensure that Nigeria excel as a nation”.
