Police Arrest Ondo Governorship Candidate, Others Over #EndBadGovernance Protest
Operatives of Ondo State Police Command have arrested no fewer than nine protesters participating in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria demonstration in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday.
It was reported that the protest holding at the NEPA Roundabout area in Akure, the state capital, was disrupted by the men of the state police command.
According to one of the protesters, Tope Temokun, some of those arrested are the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress, Kunle Ajayi; Patrix Owolabi, Oluwatobi Akinkuotu, Kolawole Kumuyi and Olalekan Oladehinde.
He said, “The arrest that took place is highly condemnable and stands condemned. If the police has any evidence of violence from the protesters, it should come out with it.”
When contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, said she would get back but was yet to do so at the time of filing this report.
“I am in a meeting, I will get back to you shortly,” the PPRO stated.
