OYO GUBER ASPIRANTS REQUIRE SPECIAL OATHS – CLERIC

By NBF News

Sheikh Bello, an Ibadan-born but Kano based cleric made the call in Ibadan over the weekend, the second time in the past three weeks.

He was delivering a sermon on the occasion of the eighth-day fidau prayer for the repose of the soul of Alhaji Busari Akinsola Aloyunkeu, the deceased Chief Imam of Aba-Agbo Mosque and father of the Oyo State chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (a.k.a. Tokyo).

Pa Aloyunkeu died on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the age of 92. Sheikh Bello, in his sermon, enjoined Islamic leaders in Oyo State to ensure that any of the aspirants standing for the governorship election in the state from any of the political parties be made to undergo special public oaths in front of the Central Mosque at Oja'ba, with a view to instilling the fear of God in their hearts and keeping them on their toes at all times.

While lamenting the spate of under-development of Oyo State in the past years, the Islamic preacher maintained that it had become desirable for governorship aspirants to submit their blueprints and action plans which he said should be capable of revolutionizing the state and in the long run banish widespread poverty in the land.
