AHRC Salutes The World Court’s Decision Regarding The Occupied Palestinian Lands:
The American Human Rights Council (AHRC-USA) commends the World Court/the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for its recent decision as to the Occupied Palestinian lands in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
The ICJ’s decision is not surprising. It confirmed the narrative of the peace and justice community and the Palestinian community regarding the ongoing conflict. The conflict did not start on October 7. The ICJ decision made it clear that Israel is an occupying power that has been violating international law for decades. Often, the law is ambiguous. However, the World Court’s decision makes it clear that the law is clearly on the Palestinians’ side and that Israel has no defense except the unlimited American support that has been shielding Israel from accountability.
“The law is on the Palestinian side, the occupation is illegal and is the root cause of all the violence,” said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. “This decision has immense moral and political weight,” added Hamad. “We call on all the countries in the world that claim to respect the rule of law to hold Israel accountable for its illegal occupation,” concluded Hamad.
