Vice-President Shettima, Ganduje Lose Mothers -In-Law

Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have respectively lost their mothers-in-law.

While Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir, mother-in-law of the vice president died in Kano, on Sunday, the location of the death of Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama, Ganduje’s mother-in-law, has not been ascertained.

Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of The Vice President in a statement in Abuja said, “Hajiya Maryam, the mother of the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, will be laid to rest on Monday afternoon in Kano, in accordance with Islamic traditions.”

Nkwocha further said the late Hajiya Maryam “was known as an exemplary and kind-hearted mother in her community and also a devoted Muslim.

“She was respected for her wisdom, compassion, and dedication to charitable causes. Many remember her as a source of guidance and support, both within her family and in the wider community in Kano.

“The nation extends its condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima, Hajiya Nana Shettima, and their family during this difficult time, while appreciating the life and legacy of the late Hajiya Maryam Albishir.”

On his part, Edwin Olofu, Chief Press Secretary to Ganduje, said in his statement, “It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy that we announce the passing of Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama, the beloved mother of Professor Hafsatu Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the wife of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje CON.

“Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama was a revered matriarch, whose life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to family, community, and faith. Her passing is a profound loss, not only to her immediate family but also to all who knew and loved her.

“The funeral prayer for Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama will hold today, at 2 PM, at the residence of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje CON, located on Miyangu Road Kano state.

“On behalf of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje CON, and the entire APC family, we extend our deepest sympathies to Professor Hafsatu Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and her family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate through this period of grief and loss.

“May Almighty Allah grant Hajiya Asiya Muhammad Gauyama eternal rest and provide comfort to her family and loved ones.”
