HJRBDA Opens Financial Bid For 2010

KANO, Sept 02, (THEWILL) - 243 contracting companies bid for 57 water related projects to be constructed in Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi and Yobe states. This development was made pubic during the opening of financial bid for contracts approved under the 2010 appropriation conducted by the Hadejia Jama'are River Basin Development Authority during the week.


According to a press release signed by Salisu Baba, the authority's public relation officer, the projects include water supply schemes, small irrigation schemes, construction of earth dams and erosion control projects.


The occasion was witnessed by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), and some two Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), namely; Center for Research and Documentations (CRD) and Community Development Initiative (CDI).


In his address, the Managing Director of the Authority, Engineer Faruk Sambo who was represented by the Executive Director Operations, Engr. Babayo Muhammad Chinade maintained that the exercise and indeed the previous one were conducted under strict adherence to the Procurement Act of the federal government.


The Managing Director called on successful contractors to be committed and selfless in discharging their works according to the specified standards.


In his vote of thanks the Executive Director Administration and Finance, Alhaji Ibrahim A. Sambo assured the contractors that prompt payments awaits those who complete their project(s).


Notable among the projects are the water supply schemes at Kano South Senatorial District, water supply schemes at Bauchi North Senatorial District, water supply schemes at Hadejia, Auyo and Kafin Hausa Local Government areas in Jigawa State.


Others include; erosion control projects in Unguwar Abuja, Bauchi State; Gaya and Tarauni local government in Kano State and land reclamation at jama'are Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
