WE HAVE NOT ENDORSED ANY PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANT – NU

Members of the Northern Union have said they have not endorsed any of the presidential candidates as their favourite for the 2011 presidential election.

The union, which met in Abuja on Tuesday night in Abuja, said though it supported zoning, but it was yet to decide on which of the aspirants to be backed for the election.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the union, Dr. Yima Sen said the expanded meeting of the union did not have the mandate to discuss national politics to the extent that it could zero in on a candidate.

It therefore said the reports in some newspapers on Wednesday (THE PUNCH not inclusive), that the union had picked some people as its candidates was not true.

The statement said, 'The reason is that the expanded management committee does not have the mandate to discuss national politics to the extent reported in some newspapers.

'In any case, no presidential aspirant approached the Northern Union to inform the organisation of his or her aspiration.
