2011: WHY WE ARE BACKING JONATHAN –NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA

Nigerian professionals in Diaspora have explained why they are supporting President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2011 presidential election.

The leader of the group, Mr. Charles Efe Sylvester, disclosed this shortly after a closed-door meeting with a prominent leader of the South-South ,Chief Edwin Clark, in Abuja.

He said, 'We, goodluck 4nigerians.com.movement, will continually support our President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to provide good governance leadership and accountability and with most emphasis to improving the lives of Nigerians . His leadership will be extended to provide for the ordinary Nigerians who have been neglected through the years.

'I believe that Jonathan will set Nigeria on the course to greatness that we have long derailed from. Politicians have thought of themselves in the past and not of the Nigerian people. We are supporting him (the President) to provide good governance leadership and accountability to provide for Nigerians that have been neglected for so long for good power supply schools health, education security law and order.'

According to him, the group is also supporting the President because power and the fuel supplies in Nigeria have been improving gradually.

He said, 'That is why we are joining Nigerians to rally around him to provide good leadership and good governance it is this that will set a base for him to contest in 2011.

'Our organization was founded in the United Kingdom by concerned Nigerians in Diaspora. We have Nigerians from all professions and we have representation in UK, USA and Canada, Ghana and, Gambia.

' We know that there are many groups clamouring for Jonathan in 2011. We want to stand with the rest of the group to ensure that the standard of living of the Nigerian people will improve.'

Also at the event, Clark said, 'He is not an ambitious fellow. He is not the type of person who will like to impose himself on the people. So, God sent him there. God that brought him to be the President of Nigeria will give him the courage, wisdom determination and the power to govern this country.'
