ONI GIVES CONTRACTOR TWO MONTHS ULTIMATUM TO COMPLETE ROAD PROJECT

Ekiti State Governor, Engr Segun Oni has directed the contractor handling the newly re-awarded Ikole –Ara- Isinbode road to ensure completion of the road within the next two months.

Governor Oni, who gave the directive while inspecting construction

work on the 19-kilometer road, urged the contractor to ensure high

quality of work on the project.
He stressed that the road was strategic to his administration's plans to promote commerce and economic activities in the area reputed to be highly endowed with cash crops, timber and other farm produce.

He noted that the contractor should be able to complete the laying of asphalt on the road on schedule more so that the all other major works including earth works, line drains, granite stone base of the road have been completed.

At Ago Ilupeju-Jubrila settlement near Isinbode-Ekiti, Governor Oni promised that Government would soon sink a motorised borehole in the community.

Speaking after inspecting the 12-kilometer Irele-Ponyan road the Governor commended the contractor for doing a good job, stressing that when completed the inter-state road would improve cultural and economic ties between the people of Ekiti and Kogi States.

He disclosed that construction works on another road linking Ekiti

and Kogi states, the 7 kilometer Irele – Ogbe road would resume immediately after the completion of the Irele-Ponyan road.

Oni, who urged the contractor to complete the road before November later inspected the construction on bridge on Oyi river, which was nearing completion.
