The Militants We Now Dread

There are different stories to it.
No liberty, anymore.
Ruthless, provoked, punished attacks
everywhere.
Tremendous loss of lives,
many permanently injured.
We are no longer snoring, while sleeping.
The sleep is no longer sweet.
We now wear tears, while sleeping,
because no one knows when they would come.
We have sold our dogs, our guards,
and admonished our children
to be less noisemakers
so that their barking and noising
wouldn't attract the assailants
to our habitat.
We are now all afraid,
not of the alleged militants in our midst,
but the deplored militants
who said that they are here,
after the alleged militants
in our midst, in our milieu.
Now we are all re-branded militants?
because we saw ourselves dying
in the course of the deplored militants
trying to fish out the alleged militants in our midst.

Are they not the militants we now dread?
