THE NWC OF TURAKI VANGUARD HOLDS INAUGURAL MEETING - COMMENDS THE SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS FOR A BOLD STAND AIMED AT PRESERVING THE SANCTITY AND UNITY OF NIGERIA

By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze

The National Working Committee (NWC) of Turaki Vanguard comprising mainly of its key National Officers under the Chairmanship of Hon. Oladimeji Fabiyi the National Coordinator of the movement held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday the 24th August, 2010 at its National Secretariat in Abuja. This event was a major highlight for the movement that had only the previous Sunday in Abuja celebrated its return to the political scene with an event in Abuja held amidst pomp and pageantry that had in attendance members from the six geopolitical zones of the country with the next President of Nigeria, Alh. Atiku Abubakar, God willing addressing the movement.

Key on its agenda on Tuesday, was the unanimous commendation of the South East Governors for their stance of maintaining that all key political players in the PDP must uphold the principle of zoning in other to safeguard the sanctity of the Nation's polity.

Furthermore, the NWC stated that the South East Governors resolve to support the candidate with the best programs which will among other things address the marginalization of the South-East Zone whereby impacting true development in Nigeria was a commendable one. The NWC said that the statement was inadvertently an advancement of Atiku's candidacy because of his antecedents in the region which culminated in a Chieftaincy title Ochendo Ndi-Igbo.

The NWC in its meeting, noted that Atiku's five points agenda stands as the most ambitious so far of any leader in Nigeria, stating that it would take only a visionary leader like him to articulate and implement these hot points that would ensure sustainable development in the Nation with the resultant dividends of democracy reaching the people of South East and the entire country.

The NWC, deliberated on the agenda which includes:
i. Employment Generation and Wealth Creation

ii. Power Generation and infrastructural Development

iii. Security, Good Governance and War Against Corruption

iv. Education, Health and Social Services

v. The Niger Delta.” And concluded that truly good thing will soon to start to happen in Nigeria again.

The NWC noted with nostalgia that the bane of our leadership since Independence has been imposition of unprepared Leaders and Nigerians should be guarded at preventing or reoccurrence of such situation. The story of His Excellency Shehu Shagari who recently told the world that he was not prepared to be the President of Nigeria but rather a Senator at the time he was elected the President of Nigeria in 1976 and have to spend some years before he could come to terms with what it takes to be President of a great country like Nigeria should guard us in the 2011 polls to elect Leaders who are prepared to lead. The case of how Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who was made the President unprepared and the consequences of such grievous mistake which we are still battling with and how Late President Yar'Adua who wanted to retire to the classroom after governance in Katsina should be lessons to guard us against the current situation where most of our All Government In Power (AGIP) politicians that destroyed General Abacha even Obasanjo in his blind ambition to be a life President should guard President Jonathan that these people never meant well for him and the entire country. They want him to embark on a journey they have planned for him to fail. The stand of the South-East Governors should give him a hint what is ahead of him if he decides to take a step that will show him working against the principle of rotation and zoning as enshrined in the Constitution of the PDP that brought him to power. He has resisted them so far, he should continue to resist them in order to be respect the name of 'Azikiwe' which is part of his name and consider the peace and unity of our country and allow the principle that brought him to power to hold sway as Rt. Hon. Nnmadi Azikiwe who he was named after loves and gave his life for the growth and unity of our country. We will continue to pray for him to be strong and resist the temptation in the hands of those who does not wish him well.

The NWC also commended Alh. Atiku Abubakar on the conduct of his campaigns so far demonstrating to Nigerians that he is the best candidate to take us to the promise land. The NWC assured him that Dr. Okwesili Nwodo the National Chairman of PDP has so far demonstrated that he will provide a level playing ground for all the participants so there is no need of going to Court for waiver as we are very sure that PDP Leadership will not like to be disgraced in the court. The waiver will be surely be granted to Atiku Abubakar before the end of next week as both the constitution of Nigeria and the Ekwueme Report duly adopted by the PDP Leadership provides enough ground for the participation of Atiku Abubakar in the 2010 Presidential Election so Nigerians need not to worry themselves about what lays ahead for Atiku as he will surely clinch the ticket of PDP during the primaries and win the presidential election to bring good things to happen again in Nigeria.
