LOLU AKINWUNMI APPOINTED APCON CHAIRMAN

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has appointed Mr. Akinlolu Ademola Akinwunmi, Chairman of Advertising Practitioners' Council of Nigeria (APCON) to succeed Chris Doghudje, whose tenure has expired.

Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili, conveyed the appointment in a letter addressed to Mr. Akinwunmi and copied the APCON Registrar. The appointment has a tenure of three years in line with the APCON Act No. 55 of 1988.

The new APCON chairman, Mr. Akinwunmi was born at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on September 27, 1958. He attended Comprehensive High School Aiyetoro, Ogun State. The Polytechnic, Ibadan and the University of Lagos.

Mr. Akinwunmi is APCON Fellow, and has served the regulatory body in different capacities, including Member of the Governing Council for several years.

He is also Fellow, National Council of Marketing of Nigeria, Member, Institute of Directors, Member, International Advertising Association and Member, Board of Trustees, the Olive Bloom Orphanage.

He served as member of the Advertising Standard Panel (ASP) and a pioneer Chief Executive Officer, Federal Government Rebranding Project Business Group, immediate past President, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Board member, Ogilvy Africa BV and has remained the Group Chief Executive Officer, Prima Garnet Group.

The new Chairman and the other 20 Council members will soon be inaugurated by Akunyili.
