For hip hop sensation, P-Square's Paul and Peter Okoye, becoming Glo ambassadors is a dream come true. In spite of their continental fame and achievements, the musical duo seemed to have been left out of the Globacom mega deal for Nigerian showbiz stars. But all that is now a thing of the past as the twins on Tuesday formally signed a mouth-watering contract with the telecommunications giant, thus joining the gang of its elite brand ambassadors.

The deal which, Blockbuster learnt, runs into millions of Naira, will push the artistes into the frontline of Globacom's business and entertainment activities.

The glamorous ceremony held at the Mike Adenuga Towers, Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island, Lagos, also presented an opportunity to renew the contracts of other Glo ambassadors like Ramsey Nouah, Desmond Elliot, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezuruonye, Nuhu Aliyu, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal and Ini Edo-Phillip Ehiagwina. Others are Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda, Funke Akindele, Nonso Diobi, Sanni Denja and Mohammed Yakubu.

P-Square, who described the endorsement as recognition of their contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry, added that the move would spur them to greater achievements not only in the country but also in Africa.

An elated Peter says: 'Over the years, we've had an understanding and have been working with Globacom. Today, we are happy to be part of the Globacom family. I must say 'e no easy' to be here. But we are going to try our best and make sure we stay in the family.'

And corroborating his twin brother, Paul states thus: 'We are not coming to take over (from other ambassadors). We are coming to work and balance the equation.'

Recalling their journey to Glo ambassadorial status, Paul explains that it started two years ago. He says: 'Two years ago, we were formally engaged to Glo. Last two months, we got married. Today is the wedding. It's now sealed and signed that we're Glo ambassadors.'

Globacom's Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mohamed Jameel states that the engagement of P-Square as brand ambassadors and the renewal of the contract for others was a testimonial to the willingness of Globacom to always recognise the vast, shining talents that abound in the country.

He says: 'P-Square remains a well focused and popular music group and the youths of this country, and this continent would find the group worthy of emulation. The choice of P-Square to join our brand ambassadors was, therefore, not misplaced. We have carefully selected our crop of brand ambassadors and we believe they represent the very best in their chosen professions.'

Jameel explains further: 'We have been actively projecting enterprising Nigerians who have excelled in their fields of endeavour. We are of the firm belief that their faces would help fire the aspirations and dreams of many youths to reach for their goals and rule their world.'

He also said that the feedback from the public largely influenced the renewal of the contracts of the ambassadors as there has been wide acceptance and recognition for the step taken by Globacom to lift the status of Nigerian entertainment stars.

All the brand ambassadors present at the event pledged their commitment to Globacom for endorsing them and for taking such a commendable step to lift the entertainment industry to a higher pedestal.
